Obituary

Edith E. (Bates) Sanderson, 91 of Norfolk formerly of Franklin passed peacefully into sleep on November 15 at the Serenity Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Wrentham following a rapid decline in health.
She was the wife of the late Walter A. Sanderson who she married on March 23, 1940 and was married to until his death on May 3, 1999.
Born in Franklin, October 22, 1918 the daughter of the late Warren and Maude (Jacques) Bates, Mrs. Sanderson grew up in Bellingham and attended Bellingham Public Schools and was a graduate of Franklin High School and the Forsyth Dental School in Boston.
Until her marriage she had worked as a dental assistant in Franklin.
Mrs. Sanderson had been a member of the Bellingham Baptist Church. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Fern Chapter of Franklin where she held the position of Worthy Matron twice and was also a member of the Grand Chapter of Massachusetts and Angle Stone Chapter #118 of North Attleboro.
Edith was truly a homemaker and loved to cook, bake and garden. Her home was her castle and her family was most important to her.
She will be missed by all.
She is survived by her daughters Carol Jean Sanderson of Norfolk, with whom she lived and Barbara Salvetti of Franklin.
She was the grandmother of Karen J. Keegan and her husband Chris of Burriville, RI, Cynthia J. Carroll and her husband Jeff of Franklin, Brent R. Salvetti and his wife Mandy of Barre, MA, Wendy C. Gallagher of Blackstone, and Brian Bates MacDonald of Mooretown, VT. Edith was the great-grandmother of Phillip and Jeffrey Carroll, Aprile, Daley, Samantha and Elizabeth Salvetti, Michael and Kevin Gallagher and Halley MacDonald. She was the great great-grandmother of Zoe and Sadie Gallagher.
Edith was the sister of Marjorie Gould of Naples, Fla., and Virginia Johnson of Medway and the dear cousin of Barbara Plante of Danielson, CT. She was the aunt of seven nieces and nephews.
Her memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 21 in the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main St. in Franklin at 10:00 a.m.
Burial will be in Union Street Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9:00-10:00 a.m.
