Obituary

Anthony J. Gildea age 76 of Canton passed away November 16th at the Norwood Hospital. Born in Boston, he lived most of his life in Canton and was a member of the Canton High Class of 1952. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War He worked for the Stoughton Post Office as a Carrier & Clerk for 25 years retiring in 1998. He was a member and Past Grand Knight of the Canton Knights of Columbus Council #2095, a member of the American Legion Post #24 in Canton, former Little League Coach in Stoughton and a former member and coach of the Canton Football Assn. Tony was a valued friend and colleague of the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home staff where he worked as a professional assistant for the last 8 years. Beloved husband of Mary D. (DeMers). Father of Kevin & his wife Laura of Bellingham, Brian & his wife Marianne of Bedford, Gregg & his wife Annmarie of Natick, Stanley & his wife Christine of Mansfield & the late Theresa Gildea. Also survived by 7 grandchildren. Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton Thursday 2-4 & 7-9. Funeral mass at St. Gerard Majella Church Canton Friday morning at 10. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery. Donations may be made in his memory to “Our Neighbors in need” c/o St. Gerard Majella Church 1860 Washington St. Canton, MA 02021.
