Terry Earl Ross, 52, of Irwin County, died Sunday, November 15, 2009, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany.
Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at Ocilla United Methodist Church with Rev. Scott Brenton and Rev. Robert Chaudoin officiating. Interment will follow in the Ocilla Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Monday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mr. Ross was born April 25, 1957 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Oris Earl & Ola Florence “Dottie” Moore Ross. He was a former mechanic for the Firestone Tire Company in Albany. He served 20 years in the United States Air Force working as an aerospace ground equipment mechanic. He lived in the Irwin County community following his military retirement in 1998 and also worked in maintenance at Wilcox State Prison in Abbeville. He was a member of the Ocilla United Methodist Church.
Mr. Ross is survived by his parents: Oris & Dottie Ross of Irwin County; one daughter: Natalie Ross of Salt Lake City, Utah; two grandchildren; two brothers and a sister-in-law: Scott Verdane Ross of Irwin County and Roger Dean Ross & Debra of Hampton; two nephews: Zachary Ross of Irwin County and Tristin O’Neal; three nieces: Amber O’Neal & Christopher, Brandie Ross, and Anzlee O’Neal; as well as his maternal grandmother: Mrs. Irene Moore of Fitzgerald. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Mr. and Mrs. Carl Ross, Sr., Paul Moore, and Myrtice Dix Moore.
