DAMON - Archie Fenton Damon, 76, passed away Friday evening, November 13, 2009 at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida. He was a native of Island Pond, Vermont and moved to Yulee, Florida from Oxford, Maine in 1975.
Mr. Damon was a dedicated family man. He was always there for his family and is loved and admired by his wife, children and grandchildren. He was affectionately called "Papo" by his grandchildren. Mr. Damon was a hard worker and never complained. He was an expert automobile mechanic and also loved doing dairy work.
He was predeceased by a son, Fenton Damon, and two daughters, Sylvia Wilson and Tracy Damon. Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Alta Elaine Damon; six sons, Dale Austin Smith (Melissa), Jeffery Scott Smith, Lawrence Penly Smith (Renee), Troy Edgar Damon (Johana), Duane Carl Damon (Billie Jo) and Archie Donovan Damon (Sarah); six daughters, Jeanette Damon, Roxanne Hopkins, Ruby Ann Hall, Sherry Damon, Roxanne Simmons (Randy) and Pamela Battles (Tommy); a brother, Edgar Damon; 18 grandchildren and four to be delivered soon; and 12 great grandchildren.
There will be a memorial gathering at 1:00 p.m. Saturday November 21, at 87465 Roses Bluff Road in Yulee. Floral tributes should be sent to the Roses Bluff address.
