Obituary

In Taunton, November 13, 2009, of Grant Street in Taunton Earle E. Blackwell husband of Gladys (Crowley) Blackwell died at Morton Hospital in Taunton at the age of 81. Born in Taunton, Earle was the son of the late Earl and Teresa (Maloney) Blackwell. Earle graduated from Taunton High School in 1946 then attended classes at Stone Hill College. After college Earle joined the U.S. Army during the Korean War in the 45th Combat Infantry. He was a retired Realtor (Earle Blackwell realty) and had many other jobs as the Tax Assessor of the City of Taunton, a sales man for W.P.E.P. and as an Aid to Congresswoman Margaret Hackler in the 1970s He was a member of the Taunton Lodge of Elk’s, Taunton V.F.W. and the Taunton Historical Society. Earle was the father of Earle C. Blackwell of Taunton and Elizabeth “Betsey” Thompson of Brockton. Grandfather of Joanthan C. Thompson of Brockton. Brother of Diane Dickinson of Arizona and the late Robert, Kenneth and Donald Blackwell and Barbara Silvia. Calling hours will be held at the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington Street in Taunton Monday Nov 16th from 4-7 pm. Interment will be held at the National Cemetery in Bourne at the convenience of the family.
