GLOUCESTER: Robert S. Driscoll, 83, died Veterans Day, November 11, 2009 in the Renaissance Gardens at Brooksby Village, Peabody following an extended illness. He was the husband of Phyllis J. (Newman) Driscoll.
Born in Brighton on November 23, 1925 he was the son of the late Robert S. and Margaret (Johnson) Driscoll. He was a graduate of Brighton High School and Suffolk University. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he was honorably discharged in 1946. He had resided in Gloucester for many years before moving to Brooksby Village several years ago.
Mr. Driscoll was the owner and operator of several successful businesses in the building trade industry.
In addition to his wife of fifty-seven years, he is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Sarah Cross Clary and Robert Clary, and a granddaughter, Maggie Clary all of Gloucester and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by a brother, Bennet Driscoll, Sr. and his wife, Elizabeth, a brother-in-law, Marnal Newman and his former son-in-law, Robert Cross.
A memorial funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday in the Brooksby Village Chapel, Brooksby Village Dr., (off Rt. 114) Peabody at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the charity of one’s choice.
