North Augusta, SC---Mrs. Mary Alice Sumerau Smith, 76, entered into rest on Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at her residence.
Graveside services and interment will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 14, 2009, at Westover Memorial Park with Dr. Rodger B. Murchison officiating.
Mrs. Smith was a member of the Quarter Century Club and the Gold G Club, a member of the Baptist faith and a former member of the First Baptist Church of Augusta, on Greene Street. She retired from First Union Bank after 38 years, as a dedicated employee. Most of all, she was a loving wife and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Bonner Lee Smith, parents, J. Gordon and Frances Reid Sumerau and a sister, Martha S. Menger.
Survivors include her son, Lee Smith (Catherine) of San Antonio, TX, daughters, Nancy Ferguson (Camp) of Martinez, GA, Cynthia Kersey of North Augusta, SC, seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, brother, Ed Sumerau (Pat) of North Augusta, SC and brother in law, Jimmy Menger of Augusta, GA.
The family will receive friends following the service, on Saturday, at the graveside.
