Obituary

BEVERLY: Kenneth H. Manning, 85, died Veteran’s Day, November 11, 2009 at his home following an extended illness. He was the husband of M. Theresa (Burchstead) Manning.
Born in Salem on April 1, 1924 he was the son of the late William and Lena (Leduc) Manning. He was a graduate of Salem High School class of 1942. He has resided in Beverly since 1950. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, Kenneth enlisted following graduation and was honorably discharged as a Carpenter’s Mate Second Class in January 1946.
He was employed as the purchasing agent for the Graves Yacht Yard and Marblehead Trading for over fifty years before his retirement. He was a member of the Franco-American Club in Beverly.
In addition to his wife of fifty-nine years, he is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth J. and Maryjane (Ercha) Manning of Beverly, two sisters-in-law, Marion Manning of Salem and Erika Welch of Danvers and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by three brothers, William, Philip and James Manning, two sisters, Mary Rodgers and Dorothy and her husband, Charles J. DiLuiso.
His funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday in the St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 253 Cabot St., Beverly at 11 a.m. The family will be receiving relatives and friends prior to the Mass in the Grondin Funeral Home, 376 Cabot Street, Beverly from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Beacon Hospice, 100 Cummings Center, Suite 222C, Beverly, MA 01915 or to the Spectrum Adult Day Center, 600 Cummings Center, Beverly, MA 01915. Interment will be held in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
