Screven- Mrs. Sula Ann Howes, age 75, passed away Sunday, November 8, 2009 at Wayne Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. Ann was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grand-babies. She and her husband traveled extensively around the United States while she was still able to work. They retired to Screven, GA about ten years ago and enjoyed gardening and being around their children and families. Ann also enjoyed crochet work. She leaves a loving family who will always remember her as “Mom” and “Granny.”
We know that she is free now and reunited with her precious daughter Deborah and the rest of her loved ones who passed before her.
Ann was preceded in death by her father: Melvin Cribbs, Sr. of Savannah; mother: Myrtle Lee Davis of Savannah; brother: Melvin Cribbs, Jr. of Atkinson, GA; sisters: Melvie Lee Waters of Manchester, GA, Lawanna Cribbs of Savannah; daughter: Deborah Ann Hendren of Hortense.
Surviving is her husband: Douglas W. Howes of Screven; two sons: Gary E. Adleburg and his wife Gina of Jacksonville FL and Larry E. Adleburg of Ocala, FL; one daughter: Wanda Lee Thompson and her husband John of Yulee, FL; three step-daughters: Polly Andrews Bean and her husband Bobby of Brunswick, Tina Turner and her husband Wade of Flowery Branch, GA and Susan Buchan and her husband Mike of Screven; two step-sons; Douglas A. Howes of Brunswick and Shawn Howes and his wife Donna of Rome, GA; sixteen grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 12, 2009 at 11 a.m. from the James R. Gordon Memorial Chapel with the Reverend Jack Lee officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
