Hazel T. (Berger) Burke, 98 years of Brockton, died Tuesday November 3, 2009 at BayPointe Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center. She was the wife of the late Alexander F. Burke for 67 years. She was born in Brockton, the third eldest of six daughters of the late Frank and Florence (LaMontagne) Berger. Hazel remained a lifelong resident of the city and was a homemaker devoted to her home and family. Back in the 1950’s Hazel worked in the Currier Gift Shop in Brockton. She loved dancing every Saturday night with her husband and friends.
She is survived by a daughter, Barbara A. Beane of Brockton, her grandchildren, Robert A. Michaels of Centerville and Deborah L. Beane of Brockton, a great granddaughter Kelly A. Awtrey of Brockton, her youngest sister Rose Spadea and her special family Stephen and Michelle Awtrey of Brockton and John Akstin of Middleboro. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.
At the families request private services were held in the Conley Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service Friday, November 6, 2009 at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Centerville.
