Obituary

Gerald E. Lawler, 73, of Enfield, New Hampshire formerly of New Bedford, died Saturday August 30, 2003 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Hanover, New Hampshire after a brief illness. He was the son of the late Lawrence and Mary (Power) Lawler.

Mr. Lawler was born in Prince Rupert, British Columbia, and had lived in New Bedford, for most of his life before moving to Enfield 3 years ago. He was a 1949 graduate of Holy Family High School.

He was a former communicant of St. Lawrence Church.

Mr. Lawler was formerly employed by Mobil Oil Ocean Fleet for many years until his retirement as First Mate in 1985. He also had been a commercial airline pilot and flight instructor.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

Survivors include a sister, Pearl Pallatroni, and her husband James, of Enfield, and Fort Pierce, Florida; 2 nieces, Nora Marinelli of New Bedford and Margaret O'Reilly of Meriden, NH; 3 nephews, Lawrence Pallatroni of Dartmouth, Patrick Pallatroni of Bedford, NH, and Nicholas Pallatroni of Fairhaven; and 13 great-nieces and nephews.

His Memorial Mass will be held on Friday September 5, 2003 at 9: 30 AM in St. Lawrence Church, New Bedford. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, New Bedford. Visiting hours are omitted.
