Obituary

Mary S. R. Cook (Devitt), 90, a lifelong resident of Plymouth, passed away on November 7th at Jordan Hospital. She was known by her siblings as “Honey”. Survived by her beloved children Mary Murray and her husband Edgar of Plymouth and James Cook and his wife Pauline of Whitinsville. She also leaves her 2 cherished grandchildren Lisa Peterson and her husband Edward of Weymouth and Robert Murray and his wife Kelly of Plymouth and her 2 great grandsons David and Jeremy Peterson and her brother Howard Devitt and his wife Ruth of Plymouth. Sister of the late James Devitt, Minot Devitt, Frances Pratt and Ada Brewster. Mary graduated from Plymouth High School and was a cook, beginning with Currier’s Restaurant, Gambini’s, and the Newfield House for over 20 years until her retirement when she was 84. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, needlepoint, knitting, reading and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 13th at Vine Hills Cemetery at 11 AM. There are no visiting hours. Arrangements made by the Richard Davis Funeral Homes of Plymouth and Manomet. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St, Framingham, MA 01701-4688.
