Guilhermina M. "Gigi" (Rozario) Duarte, 88, of New Bedford passed on September 3, 2003 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.
She was the wife of Roberto M. "Poppy" Duarte with whom she shared 69 years of marriage and daughter of the late Dominga F. (Malaquia) and Manuel M. Rozario.
Mrs. Duarte was born in Kingston, MA and lived in New Bedford most of her life.
She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
Mrs. Duarte enjoyed gardening, singing and listening to Cab Callaway's Big Band. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time at home with her family. She loved life.
Survivors include 7 daughters, Dorothy Andrade, Roberta Lovegrove, Patricia Barboza, Evelyn Metivier, Marie Gracia, Kathleen Almeida and Irene Duarte, all of New Bedford; 2 son-in-laws, Allan Duarte and George Gracia, both of New Bedford; 2 brothers, Louis Rozario and August Baptiste, both of New Bedford; a sister, Josephine Quiles of New Bedford; 23 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Laura Gonsalves.
