Obituary

Albert A. Martel, 80, of Bedford, died at his home on November 7, 2009, after a long illness.
He was born in Manchester August 10, 1929, and was the son of Emmanuel and Dora (Cayer) Martel.
He received his early education locally, and during the Korean Conflict he served in the NH National Guard. He also worked as a milkman, and an installer for Pittsburg Plate Glass. For over 18 years, Albert worked for the Hillsborough County Department of Corrections.
Albert was a member of the Governors Crime Commission from 1981to 1982. He served four terms in the NH house of representatives from 1959 to 1961, and again from 1975 to 1981. He was a member of American Legion Post 79.
He enjoyed playing music, and singing in many different bands. He lived a very fulfilling life with many friends and family. He will be missed.
Family members include his wife, Claire Locke, of Bow; his children, Theresa Lemay, of Boscawen, Daniel Martel, of Bedford, Maureen Desmarais, of AZ, Jacqueline Martel, of VT, David Martel, of Manchester, Stephen Martel, of Bedford, Michele Cote, of Manchester; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; 8 sisters, Desneige Dery, Joan Iworsky, Dorothy Gagnon, Vivian Martineau, Aline Wenzel, all of Manchester,Etienette Bellemore, of Bedford, Rolande Corriveau, of FL, Madeliene Andersen, of NJ.; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, Meetinghouse Rd. Bedford.
Burial followed at the convenience of the family.
