Benny Martin "Dugan" Shepherd, Sr., 77, Clarksville, died Sunday, November 8, 2009, at his son's residence in Greenville, KY after an extended illness. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Neal-Tarpley Chapel with Rev. Steve Lannom officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and from 12 p.m. until the time of the service Wednesday at the funeral home. Neal-Tarpley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He was born August 13, 1932 in Clarksville, son of the late William Frank Shepherd and Nell Sims Shepherd. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife, Jean Winters Shepherd; brothers, RET COL. William "Bill" Shepherd, Jr. and Charles "Charlie" Shepherd; and a sister, Nancy Northington Harris. Mr. Shepherd was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was retired from the golf course maintenance department of the Clarksville Country Club. Survivors include a son, Ben Shepherd (Karen), Greenville, KY; two daughters, Susan Coleman (Ricky), Macon, GA and Sandra Ledbetter (Dr. B. Brown Ledbetter), Clarksville; and ten grandchildren, Kyle Tekell (Rebecca), Kristen Tekell, Anna Claire Coleman, Rebecca Shepherd, Calvin Shepherd, Andrew Shepherd, Emily Shepherd, Rachel Shepherd, Landon Clark, and Barbara Jean Brake. Pallbearers will be Mike Northington, Charles "Butch" Shepherd, Henry Lane, Landon Clark, Kyle Tekell, Calvin Shepherd, Andrew Shepherd, Ricky Coleman, and Dr. B. Brown Ledbetter.
