Obituary

Donald T. Bowman, passed away Tuesday morning at the Mt. Auburn Hospital, Cambridge following a lengthy illness. The wife of Georgianna (Demeteri) he was sixty-nine years old.

Born in Cambridge, Donald was the son of the late Frederick A. Bowman and M. Edith (Thompson) Bowman.

Raised and educated in Cambridge, Donald served in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War. When he returned, he went to work for the Department of Public Works in the city of Cambridge, retiring in 1991 after 35 years of service. He was devoted to his family and in particular his grandchildren, he enjoyed classical music, art and carpentry.

Surviving in addition to his wife Georgianna, are two sons; Mark J. of San Diego, CA., and Stephen G. and his wife Angie of Woburn. One daughter; Valerie P. Hammond and her husband Andy of Cambridge. He was the loving grandfather “Boompa” of Reid and Nathan Hammond, and Abigail Bowman. He is also survived by one brother David Bowman of Belmont.

He was predeceased by his sister Gloria Santackas.

A funeral service will be held in the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home 60 Pleasant St. Woburn, on Thrusday, September 4, at 10 a.m. Services will conclude with burial at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 3, from 6 thru 8.
