In Boston, Susan (Almeida) Holmes, of Taunton, lost a 12 year battle with breast cancer on November 6, 2209 at the age of 57. She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Donald E. Holmes Jr. Sister to Irene Cinto, John Almeida Jr., Sandra McCall and Joan Andrade. Loving mother of Kimberly (Holmes) Moreton and her husband Matthew of Taunton, Jonathan Holmes and his fiance Michael Goodis of Norton. Beloved grandmother of Bailey and Sydney Moreton. Mrs. Holmes was a lifelong resident of Taunton. In recent years she was an administrative assistant for AFSCME and Old Colony United Way. Prior to holding these positions she worked as an IT specialist and help desk coordinator for Motorola for many years. Prior to getting sick she was very active and enjoyed spending her free time out in the fresh air. She loved taking long walks and bike rides with her family. She would spend hours caring and tending to her many plants. She was a motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed taking long rides with her husband to nowhere in particular, it was the journey she loved not the destination. All her life Susan had a love for travel and enjoyed traversing the country. She also was an avid member of the Taunton Ten Pin bowling league. Susan lived by the following mottos: live in every moment, don’t put off for tomorrow what you can do today, life is short so don’t waste it and when its your time to go its your time to go. She was an active participant in her grandchildren’s lives, attending everything from holiday shows to soccer games, also shared her love for baking with them and taught them everything she knew. A funeral home service will be held at the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St. in Taunton on Tuesday, November 10th at 9am. Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Monday from 5-7pm. Interment in St. Francis Cemetery in Taunton. In lieu of flowers donations in Susan’s memory may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Program, 502 Bedford St., Fall River, MA. 02722
