TEWKSBURY - Edward F. Pelletier, age 75, a member of the Tewksbury school system for over 35 years, died unexpectedly on Monday, Sept. 1, at Saints Memorial Medical Center in Lowell.
He was born in Salem, Sept 16, 1927, a son of the late Thomas J. and Catherine M. (Regan) Pelletier.
Upon completion of high school, he enlisted into the U.S. Navy, and was honorably discharged as a Boatswain's Mate Third Class.
He graduated the University of Texas in Austin, and later earned his Masters Degrees from Salem State College in Massachusetts.
He began his career as a teacher at the Foster School in Tewksbury Center, and rose to the position of Principal at the Louise Day Trahan School, (formerly the Shawsheen School) 35 years later.
He served as Administrator for the Title 1 Program in Tewksbury, was a member of the Mass Teachers and Administrators Unions, and was also a member of numerous educational organizations throughout his career. He had also served as a director and officer of the Tewksbury Municipal Employee's Credit Union.
He held a lifelong passion for Golf, and had served as President of the Happy Valley Golf Club in Lynn, and was a former member of Longmeadow G.C. in Lowell, the Hillview C.C. in Reading, and the Beverly Golf and Tennis Club.
He was also a member of the Hellenic Church of the Holy Trinity in Lowell.
He is survived by a daughter, Deborah M. Allie of Groveland; a son, Edward F. Pelletier Jr. of Tewksbury; a sister and brother-in-law, Constance and her husband Albert Penta of Wakefield; one granddaughter, Danielle M. Allie of Groveland; his long time friend, Christine Themeles of Tewksbury; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.He was also brother of the late Norman Pelletier and Thomas J. Pelletier Jr.
