Obituary

Donald R. Harvey, 77, a lifelong resident of Lowell, passed away on Tuesday, Nov.3, 2009.

He was the beloved husband of the late Pauline (Boutin) Harvey.

He was born in Lowell, MA on Oct.23, 1932, the son of the late Valerie and Agnes (Laferriere) Harvey.

Prior to his retirement, Donald was an employee of UMASS Lowell and before that, the Concord Foundry, in West Concord, MA. He was a Korean War veteran. He was also a member of the Passe Temps Club for many years, where he enjoyed playing pinnacle and socializing with his good friends.

Over the years, “Peps” could be found either at the Mall or on his deck, playing cribbage, with his beloved grandchildren. He enjoyed “Cote’s” famous beans, swimming in his pool and being with his family on countless vacations to Florida, Virginia Beach, and Tennessee. He was fortunate enough to be able to attend the wedding of his grandson, Rory, in Naples FL last summer, which he thoroughly enjoyed.

Surviving him are two daughters and two sons-in-law, Donna Harvey-Lacey and Frank Lacey, of McKenzie, TN, and Doreen (Harvey) Weber and John Weber, of Tyngsboro, MA; six grandchildren, Hans, Marla and Zachary Weber, of MA, Rory Lacey and his wife Jennifer, of FL, and Ryan and Randy Lacey, of TN; 3 brothers-in-law, Roger Boutin and his wife Pearl of Gilford, NH, Robert Boutin, of Billerica and Richard Boutin, of Lowell; a sister-in-law, Irene (Lamoreaux) Harvey, of Lancaster, MA; several nieces and nephews; many dear friends; and his beloved dogs, “Gigi and Meimei”.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Omer and Clifford Harvey; three sisters, Ida Paquin, Yoland Weldon and Lillian Capuano; two sisters-in-law, Jackie (Boutin) Koziol and Snookie (Estelle Boutin) Maille and her husband Paul Maille; and his long time good friend, Raymond Lamoreaux.

Relatives and friends may call at the M.R. LAURIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket Street, Lowell on Thursday, from 5 to 8 pm. His Funeral Mass will be held on Friday morning at 10 o'clock at the Holy Family Parish (former St. Marie's Church), S. Lowell. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Donald's memory to the MSPCA, Attn: Donations, 350 South Huntington Avenue, Boston, MA 02130.
