Taunton – Jose Pereira Silva died November 3rd, 2009 at the Morton Hospital Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was 78 years of age. He was the loving husband of Maria (Paiva) Medeiros of Taunton. He was the son of the late Manuel Silva and Maria Medeiros. He was born in the St Michaels, Azores on June 18, 1931. He has been a resident of Taunton since 1975. In addition to his wife he is survived by one loving daughter Maria Medeiros and her husband Robert of Norton, Ma and also leaves two sons, Frank Silva of Taunton and Paul Silva and his significant other, Donna Hurbert, also of Taunton. He also leaves two brothers and four sisters, Joao Silva of Ontario, Canada and Raul Silva of Taunton, Eduarda Andrade, Beatrice Silva, Leonarda Mateus and Conceicao Olviera, all from New Bedford. He also leaves four grandchildren, Ashlee Medeiros, Mathew Medeiros, Jennifer Silva and Edward Silva. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Mr. Silva was a member of St Anthony’s Church in Taunton. He belonged to the Taunton Folk Loric Club. He enjoyed music, playing the trumpet, loved soccer, and loved his dogs, DJ and Shady. He played in a brass marching band in the Azores. He formerly worked at Copper Craft Guild as a buffer and Swanks in the maintenance department for 5 years. When living in the Azores he was a co-owner of a taxi company. His funeral will be held Friday November 6th at 8:15am at the Taunton Funeral Home 8 Crapo St. (off Tremont St.) Followed by a mass of Christian burial at St Anthony’s Church at 9am. Relatives and friends invited to attend. Visiting hours on Thurs 5-8pm at the Taunton Funeral Home 8 Crapo St. (off Tremont St.) Burial will be at St Josephs Cemetery.
