Mary L. Barden, 77, of Derry, NH died November 3, 2009 at her home. Mary was born in Lawrence, MA on November 14, 1931, daughter of the late Pasquale J. and Filomena (Gagliardi) DeCunto. She had resided in Derry for the past 45 years, formerly living in Lawrence. Mary started her nursing career working for the N. Reading State Sanitarium, where she was in charge of the Tuberculosis ward caring for children. She later worked for Hoodkroft Nursing Home in Derry and was part of their first graduating class for nurses aides. Mary was always active with her children through community activities.
She is survived by her daughter, Carlene M. Ferrier of Concord, NH, six sons, William P. Barden of Manchester, NH, Kevin F. Barden of Derry, Michael P. Barden of Manchester, Daniel M. Barden, Joseph T. Barden and Timothy M. Barden all of Derry, 18 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters, also many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, James J. Barden in 2008 and also by her grandson, Arran Ferrier in 2002.
Calling hours were held on Sunday November 8, 2009 from 4 - 6pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Private burial was in Forest Hill Cemetery, E. Derry.
