Rockland – Viola B. (Osborne) Shalgian 89, died Monday November 2 after a period of failing health. She was the beloved wife for 71 years of Michael P. Shalgian.
Born and raised in Marshfield she was the daughter of the late Myron W. and Edith M. (Dill) Osborne.
Viola was a resident of Rockland for over 50 years and worked for many years at the former Grants/Kmart Department Stores of Rockland.
In addition to her husband Michael she is survived by her loving daughters Maureen Sullivan and her husband Daniel of Middleboro Nancy Doherty and her husband Michael of NC and Kathleen Nichols and her husband James of Whitman, , and, her brother Myron Osborne of Marshfield and her sister Edith Lyons of Brockton. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She was the mother of the late Carol Landreville.
Her funeral service will be held Thursday November 5 at 8:15 AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman, followed by a mass at 9 AM in St. Joseph the Worker Church, Hanson. Burial will follow in the Fern Hill Cemetery, Hanson. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday November 4 from 4-8 PM.
