Obituary

Augustine P. “Gus” DiSano passed away on October 29, 2009. He was 88 years old.

Born in Malden, Gus was a lifelong resident of the city. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was a member of the Naval Reserves for 39 years, attaining the grade of Chief Master Petty Officer. Gus worked as the Director of School Food Services for the Malden Public Schools for 28 years. He was a past president of the Mass. School Food Service Association, The American School Food Service Association, The Fleet Reserve Association and the Retired Naval Enlisted Reserve Association. Gus was also a member of the I.A.C.C. of Malden, the St. Joseph’s Men’s Club, the VFW of Melrose and was President of the Edgeworth Reunion Committee.

Gus was the devoted wife of the late Jean (Faricelli) DiSano and the beloved father of Jean Flecca and her husband William of Malden. He was the dear brother of Joseph DiSano and his wife Adelaide of California and the late Dora Rufo, Louis, Anthony and Frank DiSano and Mary Savarino. Gus was the cherished grandfather of Andrew Flecca and his wife Lisa of Peabody and Sarah Flecca of Malden and the great-grandfather of Brandon Flecca. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

The Funeral will be held from the A. J. Spadafora Funeral Home, 865 Main Street, Malden on Tuesday, November 3rd at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph’s Church, 770 Salem Street, Malden at 10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours are Monday, November 2nd from 4-8 p.m. Interment Puritan Lawn Cemetery, Peabody.
