Joanna "Jenny" (Santos) daCruz, 75, of Dartmouth died Sunday August 31, 2003 unexpectedly at home. She was the wife of Deacon Antonio M. daCruz.
Born in Fall River, the daughter of the late Marcos Santos and Mary (Almeida) Lopes, she lived in New Bedford for most of her life.
She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church, where she served as a cantor and spoke proudly of being a choir member since the age of 14.
Mrs. daCruz was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was the recipient of the Marian Medal from the Diocese of Fall River.
Survivors include her husband; 6 daughters, Linda Teixeira and her husband Skip of Marion, Joan Lopes, Andrea Barrett, and Koren daCruz, all of New Bedford, Anita Atalig of Tamuning, Guam, and April Agbai and her husband James of Brockton; 2 sons, Antonio M. daCruz Jr. of New Bedford and Miguel J. daCruz and his wife Sherri of Dartmouth; 5 sisters, Pastor Pat Ramos, Mary Ramos, Anna Perry and her husband William, and Maria Barros and her husband Nuno, all of New Bedford, and Rita Santos of Chelsea; 2 brothers, Jack Santos and John Santos, both of Cape Verde; 20 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.She was the sister of the late Antonia Britto, Julia Pena, Marcos Santos Jr., and Anthony Santos.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New BedfordThursday September 4, 2003 at 9 AM.Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 10 AM.Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday September 3, 2003 from 4-8 PM. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.
