Obituary

Betty J. (Cookson) Cavicchi, 81, of Middleboro, died Friday October 30th at her home comforted by her family, following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Edward G. Cavicchi, Sr. who passed away in 1979.

Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Vera (Porteous ) Cookson and was a resident of East Bridgewater for over 50 years and recently of South Easton and Middleboro. A graduate of East Bridgewater High School in 1946, she went to graduate from Fisher College. Betty enjoyed golf and was a member of the Brockton Country club for many years. She loved to travel and had been to many destinations around the world, including cruises and cross country motor home trips. She was known for her interior decorating skills and gourmet cooking. She valued her time with her family and many friends.

She is survived by her three children, Dr. Edward G. Cavicchi. Jr. and his wife Maryann of Plymouth, Lorraine (Cavicchi) Blute and her husband Kevin of Harwich, Peter M. Cavicchi and his wife Marie of Wareham. In addition to her children, she leaves six grandchildren, Andrea and Maria Cavicchi, Jacqueline and Patrick Blute, Peter and Andrew Cavicchi. She was the sister of Eleanor (Cookson) Hartley of Warren, NH, Bruce Cookson, Sr. of Leesburg, FL and the late Robert Cookson of Oregon


Her services will be held on Monday November 2nd at 9:15 from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman, followed by a funeral mass at 10:00AM in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman. Interment will follow in the St. James Cemetery, Whitman, MA. Visiting hours will be on Sunday November 1st from 1:00-500PM.Donations may be made in her name to the Massachusetts Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 220 north Main St., Natick, MA 01760.
