Steele, Robert L. age 84 of Teaneck formerly of New York City died Wednesday, October 28, 2009. Robert was the beloved husband of Roberta (nee) Christian for 50 years. Devoted father of his son Kelly Steele, his daughter Janet Joyner and her husband Dennis, his son Terry Steele and his wife Janice. Loving grandfather of Jordan, Marcella, and Elsie Joyner. Robert is also survived by his dear sister Patricia Gordon and was predeceased by his brothers Alvin B. Steele, Jr. and Hamilton Steele. Following his graduation from Howard University, Robert began a successful career as a Systems Analyst having worked with such companies as Mercedes Benz and Met Life. He was a veteran of the US Army where he was designated as a Sharp Shooter. Robert also served with the Teaneck Auxiliary Police and was secretary for the Teaneck Environmental Commission. As a member of AARP he committed much of his time educating his fellow seniors. He was also a member of the Tenafly Rifle Club. Family and friends are invited to visit Sunday 3-7PM at the Volk Leber Funeral Home, 789 Teaneck Rd., Teaneck. A service will begin at 6:30PM.
