WORCESTER
Maxine D. Smith, 81, born on December 15, 1927 of Worcester died Tuesday, October 27 at Saint Vincent Hospital.
Her husband, Robert Coates predeceased her. She leaves five children, Carolyn Walker, Kevin Smith, Priscilla Pettway, Robert Smith and Todd Smith all of Worcester; two brothers, William Smith and Leander Smith; six sisters, Carrie Smith, Ethel McLendon, Bessie McKee, Mariah Woodson, Josephine Harris and Catherine Murray; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A daughter, Marilyn Brown predeceased her. She was born in Mooresville, North Carolina daughter of Robert and Laura (Brown) Smith.
Maxine was a wonderful mother, who enjoyed raising her children and spending time with her family. She was a member of AME Zion Church. She enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy and she loved her chocolate ice cream.
Visiting Hours are Monday, Nov. 2, from 10 AM to Noon with a Funeral Service at Noon at CALLAHAN AND FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle Street, Worcester. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
