SOUTHBRIDGE - Bronislaw A.”Benny” Sterczala, 90, died Sunday, October 11, in Saint Francis Home, Worcester.
He leaves his wife of 64 years, Helen T. (Travinski) Sterczala; two daughters, Janice A. Sterczala-Anctil and Joanne Gendreau, both of Wales; a grandson, Richard A. Gendreau, Jr. of Union, CT; a great grandson, Ryan T. Gendreau; nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his brother Edward of Webster in 1986.
He was born and raised in Webster, the son of Stanley and Anna (Kostka) Sterczala. He lived in Southbridge and Union, CT before returning here in 2008.
He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II, Korea, the Cuban Missle Crisis and Vietnam. He proudly served in the Marine Corps for 31 years, retiring in 1972 as a Master Gunnery Sergeant.
He was also a postal carrier for the U. S. Postal Service in Worcester for 7 years, before retiring due to illness in 1979.
He was a former member of Saint Hedwig’s Church. He enjoyed fishing.
Funeral services were private. Burial was in St. Joseph Garden of Peace, Webster. The Webster-Dudley Veterans Council provided in the military honors at the cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School Street, Webster.
