Eugene C. "Gino" Bertini Sr., age 66, died unexpectedly, October 26, 2009, in Melrose. Born in Boston, Gino was the son of the late Mary (D'Urbano) & Benjamin Bertini. He was a Wakefield resident for the last three years, formerly of Woburn.
Gino was the owner of Mr. Kool, which was an ice cream vendor for different ice cream retailers. He owned and operated this for over 35 years. He also was an independent owner and operator of a cab, driving with the Cambridge cab company. He loved to play blackjack, go to different horse tracks and enjoyed traveling to different casinos. Most of all, Gino was devoted to his family and grandchildren, always there to help with a lending hand.
Gino is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Pauline (Gatta) Bertini. Devoted father of Dana Bertini of Wakefield, Paula Bertini of Stoneham, Joseph Bertini and his wife Tracy of Georgia, and Eugene Bertini Jr. and his wife Leslie of Stoneham. Also survived by 13 loving grandchildren and one loving great grandchild. Predeceased by a granddaughter, the late Miranda Bertini. Brother of Maryann Desharnais, Bobby Bertini both of Florida, and the late Thomas Bertini.
Funeral from the McLaughlin-Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Friday at 9 AM. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting Hours Thursday 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
