Obituary

Mary M. (Melea) Chambers, 68 of Franklin died October 28 in the Medway Country Manor.
Born in St. Louis, Missouri, December 25, 1940, the daughter of the late Frederick B. and Gertrude M. (Dillon) Melea, Mrs. Chambers grew up in Watertown and Needham and had lived in Franklin since 1962.
She was a graduate of Mt. St. Joseph Academy in Brighton and a 1962 graduate of Boston College School of Nursing.
Mrs. Chambers had worked for many years in several area hospitals.
She also taught health assistance services at Franklin High School from 1977-78.
Mrs. Chambers had taught CCD at St. Mary’s Church in Franklin, had been a volunteer for the Meals on Wheels program and had been auxiliary member of the Franklin Youth Hockey program.
She is survived by her daughters Karen Ashworth and her husband Peter of Atkinson NH, Kristin Longley of Franklin, Kathleen Pettit and her husband Dennis of Hookset NH, and Karla Corsini and her husband Jeffrey of Bellingham. She was the mother of the late Keith F. Chambers.
She is also survived by her daughter-in-law Anne M. Chambers of North Attleboro and 7 grandchildren and step grandchildren.
She is also survived by her sister Virginia M. Dowd of San Antonio Texas and was the sister of the late William J. Melea.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 31 in St. Mary’s Church Franklin at 10:00 a.m.
Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00-9:45 a.m. in the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main St. in Franklin.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the Friends of Franklin Elders, 10 Daniel McCahill Way, Franklin, MA 02038.
