WORCESTER-Tam Danh, 43 of 77 Granite Street formerly of 237 Coburn Avenue died Thursday, August 28th in Parkview Specialty Hospital, Springfield, as a result of injuries after being struck by a car on June 24, 2001 while assisting his sister in the breakdown lane on I495. He had been in a coma since the accident. He leaves his wife of 20 years, Nat (Knoev) Danh, a son, Phat Danh with whom he lived; 2 daughters, Na and Sharley Danh with whom he lived; 3 brothers, Sunh Danh of Cambodia and Sua and Dan Danh both of Worcester; 3 sisters, Hong Danh of Vietnam, Han and Kayla Danh both of Worcester; many nephews and nieces. A brother, Chan Danh died in 1982.
He was born in Kien Giang, Vietnam the son of Lai Danh and Dam Thi Tran and graduated high school in Vietnam. He fled from Vietnam to Cambodia in 1980, later fleeing to Thailand in 1987 and lived 6 months in the Philippines before coming to Worcester in 1989. Mr. Danh worked as a machine operator for the Madison Wire and Cable Co. for 6 years and previously worked as a self-employed carpenter, mechanic and fisherman. He was a very social person who was liked by many and enjoyed fixing cars and houses and was a jack of all trades.
The funeral will be Friday, September 5th at 8:00 AM in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, cremation will follow. Calling hours are Saturday, August 30th from 3:00 until 5:00 PM in the funeral home.
