Michael A. Getchell 53, a lifelong Franklin resident, died peacefully Monday October 26, 2009 at the home of his sister, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Katherine A. (Fraser) Getchell.
Born in Natick, November 2, 1955 a son of the late Warren E. and Mary A. (Cassidy) Getchell, he was raised and educated in Franklin, and was a 1974 graduate of Franklin High School. He was employed by the F&P Molla Construction Co. of Franklin, as a carpenter.
He loved sports. He was a former Franklin Little League coach, and a board member of Franklin Youth Hockey.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons Derek M. and Wade R. Getchell of Franklin, two brothers William O. Getchell and his wife Lorraine of Norfolk, Paul D. Getchell and his wife Linda of Franklin, six sisters Joanne Eastwood, Betty Schurman, Jackie Bartelloni and her husband Gene, Diane McGann and her husband Franklin Town Councilman Joseph McGann, Marsha Getchell and her fiancé Larry Lovett, Cheryl Vendetti and her husband Michael all of Franklin.
He was the brother of the late John J. Getchell and James W. Getchell.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Friday October 30th at 10:30AM from the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. (www.franklinfuneral.com), with a graveside service at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Franklin at 11AM.
