Joseph Camara, the husband of Doris (Souza) Camara, died at his Taunton home on Oct. 23, 2009 after a lengthy illness.
He was 88.
Born in Dighton, he was the son of the late Manuel and Ludovina (Teixeira) Camara, Sr.
Mr. Camara worked at the Foxboro Company for many years, retiring in 1982.
He worked for outdoor maintenance as well as fixing and driving trucks and outdoor equipment.
In his spare time, he enjoyed dancing and was known to help those in need of anything that needed fixing.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Joseph “Dennis” Camara of Taunton, and David J. Camara of E. Taunton; two daughters, Theresa Camara and Elizabeth C. Camara, both of Taunton; three brothers, Manuel Camara Jr. and Joaquim Camara, both of Taunton, and Francisco Camara of Attleboro; three sisters, Maria Dolores Cote of Attleboro, and Maria Bemvinda Moniz and Marie Felicidade Camara, both of Taunton; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late John and Alfredo Camara.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway on Monday, Oct. 26th at 8 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony Church at 9 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, Oct. 25th from 4 to 7 p.m.
