Obituary

Doris (LaBelle) Vanasse, 89, formerly of Clinton St., died Tuesday evening at Oakland Grove. She was the wife of the late Homer J. LaBelle and the late Roland Vanasse.
Born in Woonsocket, Doris was a daughter of the late Joseph and Eva (Rondeau) Tardie. She was a lifelong resident of Woonsocket.
Doris was employed by the State of Rhode Island school lunch program. She worked primarily at the Bernon Heights Elementary school for over 20 years before retiring in 1984.
Doris was a member of the St. Louis and St. Agatha’s Senior Citizens groups. She enjoyed cooking and was a talented seamstress and often made clothing for her grandchildren.
She is survived by a son, Robert J. LaBelle of Woonsocket, a step-son Richard Vanasse of Wakefield, a brother, Roland Tardie of Burrillville, and a sister, Beatrice Gariepy of Woonsocket. She was the sister of the late Albert Tardie and Aline Gosselin. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Kenneth, Kevin, Kreg, and Kerry LaBelle, 2 step grandchildren, Stacey and Kelly, 3 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be Monday at 9:00 am from the Menard Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave., Woonsocket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Agatha’s Church, Joffre Ave., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham. Visiting hours are Sunday from 4-7 pm.
