WAYLAND: Valerie B. (Browning) Brady, 90, died peacefully on October 20, 2009 at the Metrowest Medical Center following a period of declining health.
She was born in Methuen on January 12, 1919 the daughter of the late Charles R. and Florence M. (Horrocks) Browning.
Mrs. Brady is survived by her devoted daughter, Jean M. Brady and her longtime friend Rusty Brough both of Ashland. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was the wife of the late Clyde A. Brady.
Mrs. Brady has been a resident of Wayland for the past several years and previously resided in Melrose. She spent her earlier years in Methuen and for over 15 years in Portsmouth, NH. She was a graduate of Portsmouth NH High School. During World War II she was associated with the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. Valerie was an avid Red Sox fan, enjoyed traveling, especially visits to Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun. She loved to cook and spend time with her family.
Visitations will be held on Friday, October 23, 2009 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (OFF Route 30), Wayland. A funeral service will be celebrated at 7:00 pm following visitations.
Private family interment will be held at the Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen at the convenience of her family.
In lieu of flowers, her family suggests memorial gifts in her memory be sent to the Jean M. Brady Scholarship Fund, 177 Leland Farm Road, Ashland, MA 01721 to benefit a high school student from Norwood High School who excels in literature and English or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
