Francis X. Martin age 83 formerly OFD & of Quincy of Canton passed away October 21st at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. Born in Boston, he was raised in Dorchester and attended Dorchester High School and Newman Prep in Boston. He was a Navy Veteran of WW II. He was Co-owner of Kyes Supply Co in Boston for many years. He was an avid sports fan, especially Baseball and he played semi-pro baseball in the Cape Cod League and also played for the Boston Hobos. He was involved in Thoroughbred racing for many years starting at the Brockton Fair and eventually raced his horses throughout the country. He achieved his lifelong dream of owning a champion horse named Timely Writer. He was a member of an "OFD" group that met monthly at Nick's Place Restaurant in Canton. Beloved husband of Mary T. (Connolly). Father of John F. Martin & his wife Lisa, Maryellen Craig & her husband Joseph & Janice M. Bergeron & her husband Michael all of Marshfield. Grandfather of Miranda Martin, Brian & David Craig & Renee, Nichole & Danielle Bergeron. Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton Friday 4-8 pm.
