Mann, Joan Grace - formerly Joan Drewes – long time resident of River Edge with her beloved husband Bill - died on October 18th 2009. Joan was born at the Jersey City Medical Center on December 10, 1929 and lived in Hoboken until she was 5 years of age. After the death of her father, a Hudson County Police Officer, in a motorcycle accident, Joan moved to River Edge. She lived there until 1990, when she retired to their “Enchanted Cottage” in the Poconos until Bill’s death in April of 2007. Most recently she lived in Newtown, Pennsylvania. Joan was a wonderful daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother to all of her family. She was ever dedicated to their comfort, care, and gastronomic delights. Her greatest joy was having the family come to the house in the mountains and to care for them. Joan was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church in River Edge and and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hawley, Pa. Joan was known for her outgoing personality and her artistic talents. She is survived by her son, William H. Mann of Andrews, South Carolina; and her son, Donald and Cordelia “Dee” Mann of Pennington, NJ. She was also blessed with grandchildren: Scott, Michael, Catherine, Lauren and Jordan; and with four great grandchildren: Joshua, Kurt, Jared, Jay-Lynn. She was a wonderful person and mother. We will miss her until we reunite in the presence of the Lord. May she rest in Peace.There will be a viewing at Volk-Leber Funeral Home at 268 Kinderkamack Rd, Oradell, NJ on Wednesday October 21 from 9:30am until 11am followed by a brief service. Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Cemetery in Paramus.In lieu of Flowers donations in her name may be made to Chandler Hall Hospice Center, 99 Barclay St, Newtown PA 18940.
