Andrzej Edward Rutkowski, 60, passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2009 at his home in Nashua, NH with his family beside him after a long, brave, and resolute fight with cancer.
He leaves behind his wife of 36 years Wanda H. (Kuziemski) Rutkowski; his sons Andrzej P. and Pawel M. Rutkowski; his sister Henryka Myszkowska; and family and friends living in Poland, Holland, England and the United States.
Andrzej was born in Lodz, Poland on January, 5th 1949, the son of the late Wladysaw (Pieta) Rutkowski and Marian Rutkowski.
He attended school in Lodz where he studied engineering. He also attended 2 years of compulsory military school in Poland.
As a young man he was active in many youth groups in Lodz, with a special interest in photography and short wave radios. It was also in Poland where he developed a life long passion for sailing and flying. He met his future wife, Wanda at a local library where they both volunteered.
He moved to the United States in 1981 with his family and settled in Nashua, NH. He worked for 25 years at Freudenberg in Lowell, MA and Durham, NC as a maintenance coordinator and then as a project engineer until his cancer diagnosis.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, hiking, flying, wood-working and sailing on his boat, Whisper, on Sebago Lake in Maine. In addition, he loved photography, became a beekeeper, and flew RC planes. He was a member of the Nashua Fish and Game Club, The Southern New Hampshire Radio Control Club, and the Merrimack Valley Beekeepers Association. One of his proudest achievements was earning his pilot license while working in North Carolina. Recently, he received his motorcycle license from the state of New Hampshire.
Andrzej was a loving and committed husband and a supportive and caring father. Though soft spoken, his actions and words will live on forever in our hearts and thoughts. We will miss you Tata.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a prayer service at the M. R. LAURIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St. Lowell, on Friday evening, Oct. 23 at 6 o'clock followed by a visitation until 8pm. He will be laid to rest at the National Shrine of our Lady of Czestochowa in Penn. at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
