HARRIS, Charles N.- Of Malden, unexpectedly, October 17th. Devoted husband for 49 years to the late Marie T. (Pothier). Beloved father of Barry Harris and his wife Karen and Sean Harris all of Malden. Brother of Richard Harris of Tewksbury, Mary Rollins of North Andover, Barbara Fraser of Fresno, CA. and the late Robert and John Harris. Cherished grandfather of Matthew Harris and Ashley Ryan Harris. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend Visiting Hours in the Carroll Funeral Home, 721 Salem Street (Maplewood Square) MALDEN on Wednesday, October 21st from 4-7 PM with a prayer service begining at 6:30. Born and raised in Charlestown and a graduate of Malden High School, Charles, at 75 years of age, passed away unexpectedly Saturday morning at home from complications from throat cancer. A veteran of two branches of the military during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War, Charles spent his first tour of duty lasting 8 years with the United States Marine Corp. Returning home, he attended Northeastern University, majoring in Business Administration. Longing to serve his country again, he enlisted in the United States Air Force for another 16 years. During both tours, he was stationed in Korea, Vietnam, Hawaii, Michigan and North Carolina.
After almost a quater of a century in the US military, he again returned home and for the next 14 years worked as a systems analyst for Blue Cross/Blue Shield in their Boston office. He was also a life long member of the Malden Knights of Columbus.
