Major Gregory L. Murphy-USAF Retired, age 52, passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2009, at the Bedford Regional Medical Center in Bedford, IN. He was born in Greenville, MS to Ben C. Murphy and the late Vivian Hancock Murphy. He served in the United States Air Force from 1978 to 1998.
The visitation will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2009 from 9:00 am until service time at 10:00 am at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. The funeral service will be held in Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home. Burial will take place in Paris Cemetery in Paris, MS.
Major Murphy is survived by his wife, Susan Cook Murphy (married 31 years), formerly of Paris, MS-currently residing in Auburn, IN; a daughter, Emily S. Murphy of Auburn, IN; a son Gregory Andrew Murphy of Auburn, IN; his father Ben C. Murphy of Vaiden, MS; two sisters, Kay Soffriti of Danville, VA and Kathy David of Chatsworth, CA; and two brothers Lanny Murphy of Tyler, TX and Patrick Murphy of Kosciusko, MS.
