Derek E. Card of Bridgewater passed away October 16, 2009 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital after a courageous 4 year battle with leukemia. He was 28 years old. Born in Brockton, he attended the Davis Elementary School in Brockton through grade 6. After moving to Bridgewater, he graduated from Bridgewater Raynham Regional High School Class of 1999 and earned a B.S. in Biology from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in North Adams. He was employed by Shields MRI in Weymouth.
Derek was an avid Celtics fan and enjoyed movies, music, video games and spending time with his family and friends and his dogs Patches and Bandit. He had a great sense of humor, an infectious laugh and a lifelong love of learning. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was the loving son of Michael P. and Ruth (Carroll) Card and brother of Jason Card and Michael Card all of Bridgewater. He was the grandson of the late Philip G. and Marion (Hopwood) Card and the late Joseph and Mary Shirley (Walker) Carroll formerly of Brockton. Also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Tuesday at 9am. Funeral Mass in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 103 Center St., Bridgewater at 10am. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, W. Bridgewater. Visiting hours Monday 4-8pm.
