Obituary

Haverhill, MA- Ronald L. Blasdel, 62, of Hilton Head South Carolina, formally of Atkinson N.H. and Lawrence passed away, Thursday,October 15th, at The Merrimack Valley Hospice House after a courageous battle with liver cancer. He was the son of the late Lester I. Blasdel and Vivian (Burg) Blasdel of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Ronald was a graduate of Princeton High School in Cincinnati, and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Journalism from Bowling Green State University of Ohio. For thirty years Ron was employed as a Hospital Medical Representative for what is now Astra/Zeneca Pharmaceuticals. He and his wife retired to Hilton Head eight years ago.

Ronald was an avid golfer. He was a longtime member of Haverhill Country Club prior to moving to Hilton Head. He was a former member of the Lawrence Lodge of Elks, the BonSecours Men's Guild, and the Bowling Green Alumni Association. At the time of his death, he was a member of Moss Creek Golf Club in Hilton Head. Ron loved to travel, both domestically and internationally. He was a voracious reader, a Civil War Buff, having visited many of the Battlefields during his retirement, and a diehard Red Sox and Patriots Fan. He spent many hours at the beach in Hilton Head with his wife and family and enjoyed his dog Molly.

Ron is survived by his wife of 40 years, the former Maureen O'Donnell; his daughter Amy E. and her husband Robert Schena of Haverhill, his son Christopher R. Blasdel and his partner Robert Fisher of Dracut; his grandchildren Nicholas, William, and Samantha Schena of Haverhill; his brother Michael Blasdel and his wife Rita of Houston Texas; his mother Vivian Blasdel of Cincinnati, Ohio; his sister Sherry Blasdel of Cincinnati, Ohio; his brother-in-law William O'Donnell and his wife Margaret of Hampton N.H.,sister-in-law Frances (O'Donnell) and her husband Robert Rando of Stoneham; and several neices and nephews. Ron was predeceased by his brother Kenneth Blasdel.

ARRANGEMENTS:
Family and friends may pay their respects on Sunday, October 18, 2009 from 4-8 at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home 233 Lawrence St., Methuen. A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Monday morning, October 19, at 10:30 at St. Monica’s Church in Methuen with burial to follow at Union Cemetery in Amesbury.
