Obituary

Evelyn J. (Charpentier) Cronin, a resident of Andover and beloved wife of the late John A. Cronin, died peacefully at the Academy Manor Nursing Home on Wednesday, October 14, 2009. She was 91 years old.
Born in Quincy, Massachusetts, on September 30, 1918, she was the loving daughter of the late Valmore and Elizabeth (Shaw) Charpentier. Evelyn was retired from the Lawrence Public School system, where she worked for many years as school secretary. She had been an active member of St. Patrick Church in Lawrence and more recently a member of St. Augustine Church in Andover. She had attended the Andover Senior Center in Andover and was a volunteer for the Red Cross for many years, while residing in Florida.
Evelyn will be sorely missed by two daughters; Patricia and her husband Thomas Martin of Haverhill and Carol and her husband John Nash of Marblehead, six grandchildren; Ross and Jillian Martin, Molly and Michael Nash and Peter and Todd Cronin, five great-grandchildren; Colby, Dietrick, Moriah, Nick and Joe. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and was the loving mother of the late John Cronin, Jr.
Her Funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Patrick Church, 114 South Broadway, Lawrence, Saturday, October 17, 2009, at 11 AM. Many relatives and friends were in attendance. Calling hours were held in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover, Friday, October 16, 2009, from 4 to 7 PM. Burial was in Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, North Andover.
