Catherine A. Doherty, 67, of Derry, NH, died Sunday, August 24, 2003 at the Parkland Medical Center in Derry. She was born in Bronx, NY, on November 5, 1935 a daughter of the late William J. and Ellen (Mulry) Fleming. She was a resident of Derry since 1979 formerly living in Brentwood, Long Island, NY. She was a graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Manhattan, NY. Mrs. Doherty was employed as a residential counselor with the Center for Life Management in Windham, NH. She served on the Board of Directors for the Circle of Life. She was a communicant of St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Derry. Mrs. Doherty loved gourmet cooking and was a loving mother.
She is survived by her husband, James J. “Skip” Doherty of Derry, two daughters, Catherine A. Wade and her husband Michael of Derry, Maureen P. Brown and her husband Michael of Tilton, NH, one son, James J. Doherty and his wife Beth of Goffstown, NH, eight grandchildren, Casey Wade, Erin Wade, Allie Colliton, Shamus Doherty, Megan McKenna, Kathryn McKenna, Kali McKenna, Molly Brown, two sisters, Mary Hainas, Eileen Steigler, both of Long Island, NY, several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 27th at 10:00 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Crystal Ave., Derry. The burial will follow in the Forest Hill Cemetery in East Derry. Friends may call at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry on Tuesday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society, Gail Singer Memorial Bldg., 360 State Rt. 101, Suite 501, Bedford, NH 03110-5032.
