Obituary

Roland E. "Swede" Dubois, 80, of Dartmouth died Monday August 25, 2003 at Brandon Woods after a long illness. He was the husband of Theresa M. (Bolger) Dubois; they had been married for 56 years.

Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Emile and Florida (Filault) Dubois, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life before moving to Dartmouth in 1976.

He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in South Dartmouth.

Mr. Dubois was formerly employed as a mechanic at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company until his retirement.

During World War II , he served in the U.S. Navy and was a recipient of the Asiatic-Pacific Area ribbon with 2 stars, the American Area ribbon and the World War II Victory medal.

A great dancer, he enjoyed many years at Lincoln Park Ballroom. He also enjoyed golf, watching sports, and especially vacationing with his great friends, Pat and George and Gene and Irene.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Gary R. Dubois of New Bedford; 2 daughters, June Wilson and Karen Santerre, both of Dartmouth; 2 sisters, Florence Bates of Mattapoisett, and Blanche Constant of New Bedford; 7 grandchildren, Kimberly, Kathleen, and Amy Wilson, Nicholas and Zachary Santerre, and Katherine and Colin Dubois; and several nieces and nephews.He was the brother of the late Dora Blanchette.

Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New BedfordThursday August 28, 2003 at 8 AM.Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Church, South Dartmouth at 9 AM.Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Wednesady August 27, 2003 from 4-8 PM. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Bedford. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Beacon Hospice, 45 North Main St., Fall River, MA 02720.
