Obituary

John F. Meehan, 86 years old of Brockton died unexpectedly Wednesday October 14, 2009. He was the devoted husband of the late Catherine (Kelleher) Meehan. John was born in Brockton, a son of the late Thomas M. and Mary G. (Slattery) Meehan and remained a lifelong resident of the city. During WW II John served in the US Army with the occupation troops in Japan. He was a life member of VFW Post 1046 Brockton and the American Legion Post 35 Brockton. He was a lineman for over 40 years working from IBEW Local 104 Boston and he worked for many different contractors. He retired from the MBTA after 15 years.
John had a private pilot’s license and enjoyed flying his own plane. He was a member of EAA #279, Hanson (Experimental Antique Aircraft Association). Though he never had children of his own he cherished the time spent with his many nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of Edward Meehan and his wife Nancy of Brockton and the late James J. and William T. Meehan.

Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Saturday 8am. Funeral Mass in Christ The King Parish at 9am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visiting hours Friday 4-8pm.
