Obituary

Ida F. (Savino) Grosse, 91, of New Bedford died Wednesday October 14, 2009 at Sacred Heart Home. She was the wife of the late Alfred Grosse.

Born in Belmont, the daughter of the late Battista and Angela (Camandona) Savino, she lived in New Bedford for most of her life.

Mrs. Grosse was formerly employed as a stitcher at various textile mills until her retirement. She was also a hostess at Saloman's Restaurant, where she was affectionately known as "Auntie Ida."

She was a member of the Italian Women's Club and a former member of the St. Francis of Assisi Ladies Guild.

Survivors include a nephew, Donald Savino of Wareham; two nieces, Rosalind Rogers of New Bedford and Barbara King of Rochester; a sister-in-law, Eva Savino of New Bedford; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews.

She was the mother of the late infant son Francis, and the sister of the late Oreste A. Savino.

Her Memorial Service will be held on Saturday at 9 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. For directions and guestbook, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
