WORCESTER-Thomas S. Hurley, 67 died Friday, August 22nd in University Commons. He leaves his wife Mary A. (Long) Hurley, 6 sons Michael D. Bigger of Grafton, Terrance K. Bigger of Worcester, Thomas B. Hurley of Milford, NH, Sean M. Hurley of Bellingham, Patrick J. Hurley of Westboro and T. Stephen of Berlin, NH, 2 daughters Karen D. Taylor of Worcester and Christine A. Quinn of Southbridge, 4 sisters Bette Rogan of North Reading, Rose Bond of Worcester, Bernadette Salvidio of Rutland and Anne, known in religion as Sister Marion Raymond of E. Hartford, 15 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, nephews and nieces. 3 brothers Raymond, Joseph and Gerald Hurley and 2 sisters Mary Elizabeth Hurley and Gertrude Sliwinski predeceased him.
He was born in Worcester the son of Raymond T. and Marion (Portle) Hurley. He earned his Master Degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Mr. Hurley was owner/instructor of Bay State Academy in Worcester, previously he owned and operated Hurley Bros. Construction Co. He served in the Air Force. He was a member of the Worcester Builders Association and thew Worcester Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed reading novels, teaching camping and outdoor activities.
The funeral will be Friday, August 29th with a service at 10:00 AM in O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Thursday, August 28th from 2:00 until 4:00 and 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
