Obituary

Robert “Bob” P. Chestnut, 66 years old, of Brockton and Buzzards Bay, died Sunday October 11, 2009 at his summer home surrounded by his family. He leaves behind the love of his life, Imelda (Mannion) Chestnut. Bob was born in Brockton, a son of the late Adolph and Sarah (Bernatovich) Chestnut and remained a lifelong resident of the city. As a young man, Bob loved to golf and did so every day after school. A 1960 graduate of Brockton High School, Bob served with the US Army as a Sharpshooter, in Okinawa during the Vietnam Conflict. For many years, Bob was a self-employed Master Plumber in Boston.
Bob loved gardening at his home on the Cape, a home he had repaired and renovated himself. He also had an interest in classic cars and enjoyed reading. Most importantly, Bob loved his time spent with his family and grandchildren. He had been a longtime communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church.
In addition to his wife Imelda, he leaves three children, Rob and Tracey Chestnut, their children, Anthony and Ava, of Lakeville; Kevin Chestnut and Crystal Shirriff, Michael and Laci, of Whitman; and John and Kim (Chestnut) Fallon, and soon to arrive, Ainsley, of East Providence, RI.
He also leaves several cousins and was the brother of the late David Chestnut.
Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123), Brockton Friday at 8 am. Funeral Mass will be at Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 9am, followed by military honors.
