Mr. Emilio J. Pappalardo, age 87 of Woburn MA, died Sunday in the Hammersmith House Nursing Home Saugus following a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Emilia (Ottana) Pappalardo with whom he shared more than 60 years of marriage.
Mr. Pappalardo was born in Chelsea, the son of the late William and Margaret (Speranza) Pappalardo. A graduate of Somerville High School, class of 1939 he continued his education with 2 years of college. He had worked as a systems analyst for the U. S. Government in the Post Office. He is a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII.
In earlier years he loved to go dancing with his wife and enjoyed the music of the big band era. Known to be an avid sports fan he watched the Red Sox, Patriots and Boston Celtics. He loved to sing and was a staple at family weddings and events. Nothing was more important to him than family. He loved watching the children and grandchildren grow up and were always there to lend a hand, He had been a member of the Woburn South End Italian Club. Mr. Pappalardo is survived by a daughter, Linda Knight and her husband David of Wakefield, a son, Robert Pappalardo and his wife Donna of Reading. Loving grandfather of Matthew and Jason Knight and David Pappalardo. Dear brother of Jeanette Mili, Margaret Driscoll and Lillian Ferullo all of Medford, Josephine Inbornone and Edward Pappalardo of Everett. Brother of the late John, Anthony, Alfred and William Pappalardo Jr., Philomena Pignone and Eleanor Recina. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 thru 8 at the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., Woburn, followed by a funeral mass in St. Anthony Church, 851 Main Street, Woburn, Thursday at 10:00 am.
